Our goal is to raise $15,000 to go toward our mission of collecting and sharing DeKalb County history for generations to come. To do that we need help strengthening our impact across the entire county. Over the last five years, the DeKalb History Center has:
Educated 2,400 students via our History Quest field trip, and visits to the museum and archives
Led 75 Walking Tours around Decatur and DeKalb County
Curated Four new Exhibits - these are done exclusively in-house
Answered 1,929 Archive inquiries and visits
Accepted 192 collections into the Archives & Museum
To keep expanding we are looking to grow in these key ways, Education, Social, and Accessibility. Education: We regularly need funding for digitization and website expansion as our archives grow. With your financial commitment we can bring more content to our website, which also helps to broaden our accessibility. Social: We seek to increase visitation to the museum, but in order to do that we need funds for advertising. Help us to spread the word about this organization that you love! Accessibility: We aim to have our walking tours professionally filmed so that everyone can enjoy them. We also want to expand in-person programming into Lithonia as part of our Lithonia History Project.
You can make a difference - please help us to continue to make an impact on all of DeKalb’s History - from Dunwoody to Lithonia and Decatur to Stone Mountain.
