Join the DeKalb History Center for a special panel discussion about the history of Black teen clubs in Atlanta. Entertainment reporter Jewel Wicker discusses the legacy of the Decatur-based teen club Shyran's Showcase with founder Shyran Blakely, and former V103 personalities "Dangerous" Daron Fears and Carol Blackmon. During the 1980s - 1990s, the space served as a hub for Black teens from throughout metro Atlanta.

The panel will also discuss other prominent teen clubs such as My Brother's Keeper, as well as Atlanta Jams, the 1990s TV program that covered teen parties throughout metro Atlanta at venues such as Club XS. In addition to serving as a third space for Atlanta's youth, these clubs were also incubators for rising musicians such as Usher, TLC and Jodeci.

This program is Sponsored by Lawrence Sharp Realtors, LLC.
